about

This album took me years, even decades to get around to recording. Long story. I recorded it in Brian Wheat's Victorian in Midtown Sacramento. It doesn't sound anything like Brian's band, Tesla, but it's actually MORE acoustic than it would have been had I been solely in charge. Tesla aside, Brian is the biggest Paul McCartney fan I've ever met, and he encouraged the acoustic approach. When I get to making my follow up (11 years and counting), I'll probably go even MORE simple and acoustic. Thanks, B-Dub.
Anyway, I recorded this album in the fall of 1998, with the help of a BUNCH of different Sacramento musician friends, including the wonderful (friend and musician) Chris Webster; Mike Roe of the 77s on guitars, Steve Randall and Michael Gregory on guitars, Lynn Michael Palmer on bass, Bruce Spencer from Jackie Green's band on drums, Larry Tagg and a buncha other folks as well.
It was fun, but I wouldn't do that layering thing again. It wasn't my plan, but I found that making a record is like planning a wedding: Everyone has an opinion about how to do it and there's no accounting for acts of God.
